What I Think About Glossier / Product Reviews

As a devout Into The Gloss reader for the past couple of years or so, it was a pretty magical day when a light pink Glossier pop up welcomed me when I visited the site one day.

Since Glossier is the brain child of Emily Weiss who is the babe of all babes, I kept up with product alerts and launch times so that when it came out, I'd be in the know. The little social media sneak peaks of the products definitely built my anticipation... I mean just look at that packaging! The simple, cute, girly design almost reminds me of a glamorous paint sample and is everything my 90's child meets modern day heart desires. Like, I want 10 sheets of those stickers.

So when they launched on October 6th, I jumped on my laptop and ordered the Glossier Phase 1 Set ($80) mostly because I couldn't help myself, and it was pretty necessary to have all of these products in my life. Plus, 2-day shipping because what's a couple more dollars in the grand scheme of things...

After having a fair amount of time to test these products, I can confidently say that, as a whole, Glossier rocks.

Soothing Face Mist - This is made with rose and aloe and meant to spritz on your face before applying the Priming Moisturizer, and really nice especially if you like rose scented things (it's pretty much rose water). But admittedly, it's my least favorite product from the bunch because 1) I'm not too into spraying things on my face throughout the day (convenience issue) and 2) I personally just don't get as much use out of this as the other products. However, a good spritz feels really refreshing and will leave you smelling like you just jumped into a rose bush - minus the dirt, of course.

Priming Moisturizer - Since I already had a moisturizer that I love and use everyday (Origins GinZing), I was a little skeptical about this product because I figured I probably wouldn't like it as much. When I first squeezed it out of the tube, I noticed the consistency was water-based yet rich, and I was worried the product would kind of just sit on my skin. Instead, it blended in super well and moisturized my face without it feeling too heavy, leaving my skin hydrated, smooth and soft. I think the greatest thing about this is that it lasts all day and didn't cause my skin to get shiny or oily. Needless to say, I've given my Origins GinZing a break and adopted this as my daily moisturizer.

Balm Dotcom - Multi-purpose balms are the best because you can do so many things with one product, and who doesn't love that? A lot of the balms I've used are great, except for the fact that they aren't long-lasting so re-applying is a must. This one has a thicker, wax-like consistency compared to something like Rosebud Salve or Vaseline, so it actually stays put. So far, I've used this on my lips and on the tops of my cheekbones (my favorite way to wear it). It gives the perfect, dewy finish to your skin. My only complaint is that I wish it smelled of something - it's almost scentless, but there's a hint of pure petroleum scent... you'll know it when you smell it.

Perfecting Skin Tint - Oh, hello foundation of my dreams. As someone who hates the way most foundations feel on my skin because they can feel thick and cakey, I'm all about thin, barely there bases. I apply the super-thin formula with my fingers like I would a moisturizer and rub it into my face. It's really interesting because it actually feels like a moisturizer in the sense that it soaks into your skin rather than sitting on the surface, and appears to actually vanish while evening out your skin tone in the process. It's definitely light coverage, so if you're someone who's looking for full coverage, this isn't for you. I'd say it's like your natural skin, improved.
