I Raided My Sister's Makeup Stash

I love looking at other people's makeup. Whenever I go to a friend's house, I'm always caught rummaging through drawers and bags looking at products and then have to apologize for my weird obsession/nosiness. I especially LOVE going through my sister's makeup stuff because she's actually a big reason I got into makeup in the first place. When we were younger, she would always splurge on the likes of MAC and Bobbi Brown, while I was over here using my one eyeshadow that I had from the drugstore.

Long story short, her inner makeup lover caught on to me, and slowly, our obsession grew together. First, it started out with MAC lipsticks, and then moved onto their eyeshadows. Before long, we were making frequent trips to the mall in order to fill our MAC eyeshadow palettes. I always trusted Emily's opinion about makeup products, which is a big reason I like to go through her stash so much. Here are a couple of her most loved products:

MAC 217 and 239 brushes - To start us off are Emily's two most used brushes that I believe are essential for every girl's makeup bag. The 239 is great for lining eyeshadow underneath the eye, and the 217 is the ultimate blending brush.

Clinique Perfectly Real Foundation - Emily has been using this for as long as I can remember, and I rarely see her reach for a different bottle of foundation. As an occasional user of this foundation myself, it's great for combination skin and has light-medium coverage, making it perfect for younger skin.

Revlon Lip Butter in Red Velvet - These lip butters may be my favorite thing that has come out of a drugstore in quite a while, especially this color. It's a beautiful red wine color that is lightly sheer with build-able coverage, it's hydrating, and easy to apply for when you just don't feel like getting out your mirror.

Maybelline 24-Hour Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk - Okay scratch what I said before, THESE are my favorite thing that has come out of the drugstore. I currently own 7 shades of these, not only because I love cream eyeshadow, but because they are incredibly long lasting and pigmented. When I saw this product at Emily's, I got really jealous because I don't have this color and haven't been able to find it in the drugstore! So of course I put it on, and found that it looks great on and looks a little more brown-tinted on, making it ideal for everyday wear.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Translucent - This one is actually a recommendation from me, as I raved about this after watching Tanya Burr's videos and learning about how much she loved the product. It's affordable, and keeps my sometimes overly oily skin at bay.

Chanel Cream Blush in 65 Affinité - I regret taking a picture that doesn't show y'all the color, but a quick Google search will inform you that it's an almost shockingly hot pink. Don't let the color fool you - put on with a light finger, this blush gives a sheer pop of color to the cheeks without being too overwhelming.

YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Luxurious - Wow the product name is a mouthful, and I'm sure if I had to say that out loud I would completely butcher the pronunciation thanks to my poor French. I haven't actually tried out this mascara myself, but I have always known Emily to use only this mascara and also MAC's Haute & Naughty Mascara, and is convinced those are the best mascaras out there.

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Face Cream - This is Emily's daily moisturizer that she applies under her makeup in the mornings, and claims that it's perfect for days when your skin is feeling dry.

MAC Eyeshadow Quad containing Club, Charcoal Brown, Omega, and Naked Lunch - This quad contains her most used MAC shadows, which are all everyday neutrals except for Club, which she likes to wear at night. To see what Club looks like on, click here.
